Open to all ASBA members in good standing (dues paid), worldwide.


Botanical specimens. Work may have appeared in regional exhibitions, but should not have been shown in another international juried exhibition of ASBA.

Media Accepted:

Two-dimensional original botanical art. No photography, no digitally generated work, and no three-dimensional work will be accepted.


$35 for first entry, $10 each additional entry, up to three entries


Number artworks per entry: 3
Images must be digital files only, 300 dpi X 8” high, tif or jpg, individual files labeled with artist’s name and image title. On Line Submission: Artists may enter and submit payment online, then email image(s). Please see website at:  Mail Submission: Submit digital files: 300 dpi, image 8” high, tif or jpg files, on CD labeled with marker only with artist’s name and artwork(s) title(s). CD will not be returned. Send check or pay via in US$, payable to ASBA, completed entry form (found on website), and one to three images on CD to: American Society of Botanical Artists, ATTN: Carol Woodin, The New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Blvd., Bronx, NY 10458-5126

Framed size limit 40” x 48”, either horizontal or vertical. Accepted artists will be notified of framing requirements.

Acceptances and regrets will be sent by June 30, 2017 by email.
Shipping Insurance
Details will be provided to accepted artists but delivery to NYC will occur sometime in the month of October, 2017. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance to and from the exhibition.
Hanging Rights
The ASBA retains the right to refuse to hang work when received if framing is inadequate, the work is shipped in Styrofoam peanuts, or the quality of the artwork differs greatly from that represented by the submission materials.
Sale of Works
Artworks must be for sale and may not be removed until the close of exhibition.
The Hort’s Best in Show Award of $500; ASBA Eleanor Wunderlich Award of $500; Helen Gray Garber Award of $500; Brooklyn Botanic Garden Award for Print or Drawing of $250
Publicity and Catalog
If accepted, your images may be used in publicity for the exhibition. With appropriate funding, a catalog will be prepared using the images you provide for jurors. If significant pre-publication digital corrections are needed for your digital image(s), a fee of $75 will be levied.

If accepted, artist insures that artwork(s) will be available for display. If artist withdraws artwork before exhibition, artist will not be eligible to show at any ASBA exhibition for the subsequent two years.
