Botanical Art Exhibit at Philadelphia Flower Show

The beautiful and precise botanical paintings of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators (PSBI) are on display at the Philadelphia Flower Show from Saturday, March 11th through Sunday, March 19th. The artists will be giving live demonstrations of their illustration techniques each day between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm as well as between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
 
In keeping with the Flower Show’s theme of “Holland: Flowering the World” the 2017 theme of the botanical artists is “Plants of the Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam. The Hortus Botanicus was founded in 1638 by the city of Amsterdam as a source of medicinal plants for physicians and apothecaries. Now, 379 years later, it contains more than 4,000 species of plants from all over the world, and is emblematic of the history of Holland.
