American Botanicals:  Mid Atlantic Native Plants

The United States Botanic Garden will exhibit original paintings and drawings published in the book American Botanical Paintings:  Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic, (scheduled for release in February 2014) by the Botanical Artists for Education & the Environment (BAEE).

“The artists are Candace Aburdene, Ingrid Arnesen, Carol Ashton-Hergenhan, Chiara Becchi, Sara Joline Bedford, Clarissa Bonde, Kristie Bruzenak, Esther Carpi, Karen Coleman, Tomoko Hamada Connolly, Lee Boulay D’Zmura, Bonnie Driggers, Margaret Farr, Lara Call Gastinger, Kitty Gilbert, Mary Page Hickey, Barbara Jaynes, Juliet Kirby, Jerry Kurtzweg, Corinne Lapin-Cohen, Marcia Long, Holly Maillet, Eileen Malone-Brown, Vicki Malone, Pamela Mason, Lotus McElfish, Marsha Ogden, Annie Patterson, Rose Pellicano, Kandy Vermeer Phillips, Cynthia Rice, Karen Ringstrand, Berit Robertson, Judy Rodgers, Judith Simon, Alice Tangerini, Jessica Tcherepnine, Judith Towers, Jeannetta vanRaalte, Carol Woodin, and Mary Jane Zander.”

Each month during the exhibition, a participating artist will discuss her work and the book project while touring the exhibit with the audience.   The following are scheduled to speak:

Karen Coleman – June 8, 2014

All talks are scheduled for 2:00 PM EST.  Pre-registration is required, and may be done either by phone (202-225-1116) or on the USBG website, www.usbg.gov.  The Conservatory is open 10 am to 5 pm daily, including weekends and holidays.  Admission is free.
