Always a keen gardener, Ann finally turned her attention to drawing plants in the late 1980’s. Self-taught, she works primarily in graphite and coloured pencil and is now well known for her love of fine detail, vibrant colours and strong contemporary design. She first exhibited in 1990 and has exhibited at The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew in 1994 and at the Hunt Institute’s 8th International Exhibition in Pittsburgh, USA. She has been awarded four Fold medals by the Royal Horticultural Society, 3 indiviual and 1 shared. Recently retired from many years exhibiting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show Ann is now a judge on the RHS Picture Panel and still regularly exhibits with the Society of Botanical Artists. Her work is represented in the prestigious Shirley Sherwood Collection and has been commissioned for ceramics by Jersey Pottery and The Southern Bulb Company of Texas. Ann is passionate about coloured pencils and now teaches her techniques around the world.
Her book 'Botanical Painting with Coloured Pencils' (UK) or 'Botanical Portraits with Coloured Pencil' US has been very well received both in the UK and US.
