Hillary Parker is a naturalist and international award winning botanical watercolor artist with paintings exhibited and sold worldwide. She enjoys a dual career of painting and teaching spanning 30 years, with requests for private and public watercolor commissions, juried international exhibitions, lectures, workshops, ongoing botanical art classes, private art instruction, online private art classes, corporate art events, and solo & group shows with botanical gardens and art galleries.
As a painter, she competes internationally in invitational and juried botanical exhibitions in venues such as The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, The Horticultural Society of New York, The Royal Horticultural Society of London, The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society, The Royal Botanical Garden Edinburgh, Royal Botanic Gardens in both Melbourne & Sydney, Kew Gardens, The Frederic R. Weisman Museum, Longwood Gardens, Ursus, and Filoli. Her paintings hang in private collections, including that of of Isaac Sutton and her commissions are sold worldwide in public collections, found in Singapore, El Salvador, Canada, Japan, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, U.S., South Africa, and the Bahamas.
With a B. S. Degree in Art Education from Florida International University, she has been teaching professionally for 30 years. Her international workshops are offered at museums, galleries, universities, and botanical gardens in prestigious institutions such as: NYBG, Denver Botanic Garden, Filoli, Wellesley College Botanic Garden, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne & Geelong Austrlia, University of Delaware, NC State, and at annual ASBA Conferneces. She also teaches ongoing botanical graphite and watercolor classes at Fairchild Tropic Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida, where she currently lives. From her studio there, she teaches private art classes and also works one on one with students from around the country with her live-interactive online private art classes.
Hillary uses her sensitivity to encourage and her enthusiasm to motivate the students to take their work to a higher level. She shares her unique and comprehensive approach in a practical way, guiding and challenging students to really understand and master the medium of watercolors and to develop and express their own unique artistic voice. She is devoted to helping students develop, build upon, and master the solid foundation skills in keen observation, effective drawing, deliberate composition and proficient watercolors. She brings to each lesson a strong knowledge of subject, contagious enthusiasm, a passion for art and nature.
