Brenda Aiken was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and for the last 35years has lived in West Chester, Pennsylvania. She is a Cum Laude graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Brenda has painted and sketched since childhood in the United States and abroad (extensively in Italy and China), only recently concentrating on botanical illustration. As a high school student in New Orleans, Louisiana, she received two National Scholastic Art Awards. Brenda is a member of the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Artists. She is a student of Joan Frain.
As a member of PSBI, Brenda has exhibited at the Blue Streak Gallery, Wilmington, Delaware, the 2008 Garden Show at Winterthur, the Philadelphia Flower Show 2008 and 2009, the Center for Creative Arts, Yorklyn, Delaware, and at the inaugural exhibit of the gallery at Jenkins Arboretum, Devon, Pennsylvania. She recently held a successful One Woman Show, titled, Late Bloomer at the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware.
Brenda presently works exclusively in watercolor.
She says her best work is that which "calls to me."
