Rita studied fine art at St Martin's College of Art, London, and art history at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London University. Following graduation she specialized in educational publishing including work on natural history and science. Currently she lives in Melbourne and concentrates on botanical illustration. Influences are diverse and include Japanese art, contemporary realist art and traditional botanical art from the golden age of the 19th century.
Rita is currently a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists. In 2009-2010 her painting of Cycas seemanni will tour the USA in the prestigious Losing Paradise exhibition finishing at the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in 2010. Rita received gold medal from The R.H.S in London for a series of paintings in the Agave family (a favourite subject).
