Sharon Birzer is a Natural Science Illustrator whose work is inspired by observations made in the diverse ecosystems of the Northwest. She works in traditional media including watercolors, pen and ink and woodblock printing. She is very interested in and inspired by botanical forms. Birzer earned her BFA from Cornish College of the Arts and an MFA, as well as Scientific Illustration Certificate, from the University of Washington. She teaches illustration workshops and classes. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She lives and works in Seattle, Washington.
