After careers in teaching and the civil service in various countries in the Pacific and Africa, I embarked on my career as an artist in 2009. I lived in PNG for 8 years, working in Goroka and Port Moresby in the field of education, and spent 4 years working with Australia’s aid program in seven countries in east Africa and around the Pacific. 

I live in a rural area south of Canberra, Australia where I have a large garden. I was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years, which included 7 years as Captain of my Brigade and 4 years as a Remote Area Firefighter.

Now, painting is my priority. I am an member of the Board of the American Society of Botanical Artists, and Chair of the Grants Committee. I am a speaker with the Australian Design and Fine Arts Society (ADFAS).

My art has been exhibited in Australia as well as in London and New York, with one of my works travelling for 18 months in a touring exhibition around the USA. I was awarded the Anne Ophelia Dowden Grant, American Society of Botanical Artists and Awarded a Diploma of the Society of Botanical Artists (Distinction) and the Award for Excellence (London) by the UK Society of Botanical Artists.

My work has won numerous awards in Australia and I have been a Finalist in Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize. I have been privileged to have had two residencies at Bundanon, the home of Arthur and Yvonne Boyd, as well as a residency with Stwido Maelor in Wales. 

My work is held in many private and public collections in Australia New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark and the United Kingdom, including The Bundanon Trust in Nowra, The Australian Seedbank in Canberra, and Minami Alps in Japan.
