Gillian Rice grew up loving nature in England, never dreaming she would become an artist. She moved to the US for her academic career teaching marketing, settled in Phoenix, and began volunteering at the Desert Botanical Garden. As she learned more about plants, she felt an urge to paint them and began art classes. She specializes in watercolor and works in drybrush. Her paintings are held in private collections and have been selected for national exhibitions of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA). Gillian is Secretary on ASBA's Board of Directors and a contributor to ASBA's journal, The Botanical Artist. In 2021, she received the ASBA James White Service Award for Dedication to Botanical Art.
