Lucy T. Smith is an Australian-born botanical artist and illustrator resident in London for the past 24 years.
During this time she has worked as a freelance botanical artist for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, based in the Kew Herbarium.
Hundreds of her illustrations, which are held in Kew's archive, have been published in scientific journals and books worldwide.
She has received many awards for her work, including the Jill Smythies Award from the Linnean Society of London, First prize in the Margaret Flocktown Award for Scientific Botanical Illustration, and in 2021 was given the ASBA's Scientific Illustrator Award.
Lucy has taught botanical illustration to many students over the years, teaching classes in person and online for Kew Gardens, Chelsea School of Botanical Art and various groups.
She is now the author of her own instructional book: "Botanical Sketchbooks, An Artist's Guide to Plant Studies."
In her work, she aims to achieve the perfect balance between Science and Art which results in the best botanical art and illustration.
