Brigitte Hofherr was already attracted to nature and especially to plants in her childhood. In addition, she began drawing and painting very early.

Both as a painter and as a botanical artist, Birgitte Hofherr is self-taught.

Her exhibition activities began in 1996 at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg/Germany.

People became aware of her paintings and invited her to a wine farm in Stellenbosch / South Africa for a commissioned work.

Trips to Greece, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland and France followed, during which she always pursued her passion of researching plants.

The result of her research is a large archive of botanical photos and numerous of sketchbooks with notes and fast water colour paintings of plants and fruits.

In the meantime, she almost exclusively paints endangered and dying species.

For her research in historical varieties of plants she is in contact with pomologists, with different communities of orchard projects, scientists and collectors of old seeds.

She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Forum for Botanical Art of Germany.

Her works are in various private collections, as an example in the Florika Kiriakopoulos Collection, Athens /Greece and public collections as an example of the Regional Authority Karlsruhe /Germany, the Municipal Darmstadt /Germany, the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis /Germany
