Lily
Lilium
I found a pure white lily in a beautiful bouquet of flowers accepted from an acquaintance. I really wanted to try to paint it.
How do you see the lily’s color in my work? The lily seems much whiter than the paper’s white, doesn’t it? I have hardly used any white for painting the lily. The white part of the lily is actually the paper's color. I am very interested in painting flowers with white petals on a white colored base. I find it challenging.
However that’s not all. I like plants very much and obtain a lot of pleasure from learning botany, so I draw various plants. By portraying them, I understand the wisdom of the plants.
I usually paint with Liquitex regular type acrylic and Japanese paintbrushes made of Kolinsky sable on Arches Grain Satine paper 300g/m2. The Japanese paintbrush is very convenient because with the same brush, you can draw a fine line, a thick line and paint a plane.
