Launching ASBA’s collaboration with Wave Hill, the selection jury of Ken Druse, Karen Kluglein, and Eileen Jeng Lynch met in April to choose artworks to be included in the 21st Annual International. Since its founding in 1965, Wave Hill has evolved as a unique urban oasis and vital community resource. Through innovative programs in horticulture, education and the arts, Wave Hill connects people to nature in meaningful and lasting ways. Jurors selected 48 artworks from an extremely competitive field of about 190 entries. Artists included hail from the US, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Russia, Slovenia, and the UK, and fourteen of these have never before been included in an ASBA exhibition. Wave Hill, a spectacular public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, is planning several events to coincide with the exhibition’s appearance there. A catalog will be published, and Myra Sourkes and Claudia Lane are compiling “Artists’ Stories Behind the Art” for ASBA’s website. Wave Hill's gardens, grounds and spectacular landscape provide a safe and welcoming place to be inspired and learn from the biodiversity and beauty that nature offers, while reminding us that we are an important part of our ecosystem and our earth. Its vibrant visual arts programing features exhibitions in Glyndor Gallery, Wave Hill House and on the grounds; art workshops for adults and families; and the Winter Workspace, an artists-in-residency program. It also offers indoor and outdoor concerts through the four seasons. Please watch Wave Hill’s website to learn about events to be held there:
