The Institute established the International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration series in 1964 with the hope of supporting and encouraging contemporary botanical artists from around the world. Collectively, the International series catalogues are the most comprehensive record available of contemporary botanical artists and illustrators with individuals represented now totaling 1,212. For the 16th International a full-color, illustrated catalogue is available in print and as a database on our Web site. The print version includes reproductions of the artworks and portraits of the artists while the database includes that information as well as biographical data for the artists. The database is searchable by artist name, artwork title (including taxon, medium, support and year of completion), country of residence and exhibition number and year. As information from the printed catalogues is incorporated and updated, the new Catalogue of the International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration database will become the most comprehensive and concise record available. To aid in updating the database, we ask that previous International artists send us their current contact information.

As we have since 1995, we coordinate activities for the 16th International artists and the registrants of the American Society of Botanical Artists educational conference (17–19 October), which is held in Pittsburgh during the International exhibition. Many botanical artists from across the United States and from around the world are in town to attend.
