Call for Entries 2026 Small Works Exhibition: Dare to be Square-Denver, Colorado

DESCRIPTION

This non-juried exhibition is open to all registered attendees of the 2026 ASBA Conference. Each attendee may submit one original botanical artwork. The exhibition will be on display at the hotel. Pick-up of artwork is required on Saturday, October 3^rd from 4 to 5:30 pm.

ELIGIBILITY

All conference attendees.

SUBJECT

Botanical. Subjects must be botanically accurate representational artwork of plants or fungi. Original artwork must fit within a standardized 12 x 12” frame.

MEDIA ACCEPTED:

Two-dimensional original botanical art. No photography, solar prints, digitally generated, or three-dimensional work accepted.

Submissions

Entries are accepted online only. Artwork images must be digital files only: 300 dpi, image 8” high, .jpg with the image file labeled with artist’s name, last name first and artwork title.

ONLINE SUBMISSIONS: Log in to the ASBA website if you are not already logged in. Go to the Member Features Menu. Select Apply or Submit>Enter an Exhibition. You will be directed to the Exhibition Entry site where you may complete and pay for your exhibition entry.

Presentation

Artwork must be securely framed in the 12” x 12” specified frame, which is: Dick Blick “Essential Natural Wood Frame Kit” complete with plexi-glass (Dick Blick Item # 18862-1904). Artwork must be matted with white or off-white mat, tight-wired for hanging with D-rings. No saw-tooth or clip hangers. Artwork not meeting these standards will not be displayed. Remember to go to ASBA's website and access Blick website from there.

Shipping address and instructions will be provided when entries close. Attach a copy of the entry form to the back of the painting.

Shipping address and instructions will be provided when entries close. Attach a copy of the entry form to the back of the painting. Shipped artwork must arrive by September 20^th, 2026. Please be sure to ship with plenty of extra time built in because of all the shipping delays we’ve been experiencing. No Styrofoam peanuts allowed.

(INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: You may ship your artwork matted and unframed and we will frame it for you on site. Each international artist will be asked to reimburse ASBA $40 to cover the cost of frame and hardware.)

HAND-DELIVERY:

Artists can choose to hand-carry their work to the conference. Attach a copy of the entry form to the back of the painting. Artwork must be delivered to the hospitality desk no later than noon on Wednesday, September 30^th to be included in the exhibition.

INSURANCE: The artist is responsible for insuring artwork. Neither the ASBA nor the

Halcyon Hotel will provide insurance, however, all reasonable care will be taken to protect the work.

Sale of Works

Artists may submit their Small Works entry for sale. Please specify sale information on the Small Works Exhibit Entry Form. A 30% donation to ASBA will be deducted from the sale price of any works sold during the conference.

Awards

Anne Marie Carney Award ($250) for someone who has never been in an ASBA Juried International Exhibition. Best in Show ($250) and Honorable Mentions selected by juror panel, People's Choice Award ($250) voted on by attendees.

Publicity

Your submitted images may be used in promotional, educational or interpretive materials, either in print or electronic media, before, during and after the exhibition.

Availability

The artist assures that artwork will be available for display. If the artist withdraws the artwork before the exhibition, the artist will not be eligible to show at any ASBA exhibit for the next two years. The artist must pick up the artwork before the close of the conference.
