Code of Ethics

The American Society of Botanical Artists, under its Wildflower Initiative, has developed a

Code of Ethics for the Botanical Artist Working in the Field

We are grateful to the many botanists, artists and conservationists who helped formulate this document.

The Code of Ethics is designed to be a working document - a practical aid for all members, especially those working in the field (in situ) with native flora.

ASBA encourages you to read, study and use the Code of Ethics.

It should be noted that while the Code specifically relates to protocols for botanical artists working with native flora in the field, such basic protocols and commitments also pertain to the practice of working with all forms of plant life.

It is suggested that you print it out and keep it with you when working in the field to document your professional and personal dedication to ethical practices as regards botanical study and art.

If you have comments or suggestions please email them to execdirector@asba-art.org
