ASBA is pleased to announce that The Marin Art and Garden Center will host the 24th Annual International in The Studio at Marin Art and Garden Center, where the 22nd Annual was so successfully mounted in 2019. Marin Art and Garden Center and the Northern California Society of Botanical Artists collaborated to present a multi-faceted series of programming that contributed to amplifying the exhibition’s impact, and they are planning to do so once again.

The selection jury of Frank Almeda, Martha Kemp, and Catherine Watters met in April, selecting 45 artworks from a record number of 260 entries. Artists included hail from the US, Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, and the UK. Of the 42 artists included, ten of these have never before been included in an ASBA international exhibition. Those with work accepted are: Beverly Allen, Susan Benjamin, Hyunjin Cho, Jessica Daigle, Antoaneta Denkin, Ronda Dick, Jean Emmons, Akiko Enokido, Heather Gross, Asuka Hishiki, Sally Jacobs, Nancy Wheeler Klippert, Karen Kluglein, Benjamin Lander, Svetlana Lanse, Patricia Luppino, Anne Mantini, Lucy Martin, Tammy McEntee, Inma Medina, Susan Mintun, Daria Mirovova, Keiko Nibu Tarver, Dennis Nolan, Sharron O’Neil, An Suk Park, John Pastoriza-Piñol, Sengmany Phommachakr, Anne Pieussergues, Debra Pinciotti, Lynne Railsback, Jeanne Reiner, Cynthia Rice, Betsy Rogers-Knox, Constance Scanlon, Mitsuko Schultz, Elaine Searle, Liz Shippam, Irina Stolyarova, Sunanda Verma Widel, Carol Woodin, and Natalia Zueva.

Several events and programs are being planned to coincide with the exhibition’s appearance in California. For updates about events, check back here for the Events tab, and also watch Marin Art and Garden Center's website here: https://maringarden.org

Claudia Lane, Beth Plotnick, and Myra Sourkes will be compiling the popular feature “Artists’ Stories Behind the Art” for ASBA’s website. Awards will be presented, including ASBA’s Eleanor Wunderlich Award, Richmond and Lili Bates Award for Excellence, and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Award for a Print or Drawing.

ASBA gratefully acknowledges Susan L. Mintun, who generously provided major support for the 24th Annual International.

Then she will walk through some of her paintings of classic Camellias. Akiko will then demonstrate how she lays out the Camellia centers and show how she layers the petal colors in her beautiful Camellia paintings.
