Worldwide Day of Botanical Art
Join us at the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, DC from noon - 4pm to celebrate the Worldwide Day of Botanical Art. We'll have three programs for visitors to join in this day:
• Lecture: Botanical Art Worldwide: 6 Continents, 25 Countries, 1 Worldwide Project
• Meet the Artists: Botanical Art Worldwide: America's Flora
• Behind-the-Scenes: Botanical Art Worldwide: America's Flora

America’s Flora is now on view at Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI, and is paired with an exhibition by ASBA member Kandis Vermeer Phillips called

America’s Flora will open at its third and final travel venue, the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) on September 26, 2019. BRIT has dubbed 2019 “The Year of Botanical Art at BRIT” with numerous art-related programs, classes, and exhibits to drive public awareness of the plant world through botanical art. A number of events will be held to celebrate the exhibition’s appearance there, including a public reception on October 5. BRIT will offer a variety of classes and workshops that will draw inspiration from
Botanical Art Worldwide: America’s Flora. Its growing botanical art program is designed to celebrate and honor the traditional roots of the field while at the same time encouraging artists to explore and expand the boundaries for the 21st century. Workshops include
Drawing in Graphite II (10/5 – 10/26) and
Botanical Watercolors II (11/9 – 11/23) with instructor, artist, and scientific illustrator Samantha Peters. Artists can also take advantage of the beautiful fall color in the nearby Fort Worth Botanic Garden, for
Plein Air Painting with Watercolors (11/2).
