ASBA Botanical Art Techniques in Action with Denise Walser-Kolar
About this event
Botanical Art Techniques in Action
ASBA introduces the third round of four episodes in a new series of live-action tutorials based on Botanical Art Techniques, A Comprehensive Guide. Tutors demonstrate their topics from the book with new subjects and expand on those lessons. The one-hour sessions allow 45 minutes of demonstration, and 15 minutes for a Q & A. Sessions can be viewed live or on demand for the week following live airing.
Painting Bloom on Fruit in Watercolor on Vellum with Denise Walser-Kolar
Bloom is the cloudy coating on fruits such as blueberries, grapes, persimmons, and plums. Join Denise Walser-Kolar as she shares her technique for painting bloom using transparent watercolor on vellum (this technique would also work if you were painting on paper). The painting starts with a few color reminder washes and then the bloom is created with many fine drybrush layers in the darker areas. Denise will also discuss tiny details like scratches in the bloom and shadows created by the bloom. This class will combine a slide presentation and a live demonstration with time for questions.
